Don played basketball and golf at Jamestown High School in North Dakota. He came to Kansas to play basketball at Kansas Newman College, where he and Amy met. Don worked as an Aftermarket Business Manager for Spirit Aerosystems. As soon as his kids were able to play, he spent his years as a volunteer basketball coach in their various programs. Along with his wife, they were active in various ministries in their parish at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. When Don retired, he spent his days doing just as he dreamed: playing golf, visiting his kids and grandkids, and continuing his love of coaching as an assistant to the girls' program at Andale High. Guestbook

  1. We met Don and Amy at PSU basketball when their daughter was a player. They definitely raised an awesome daughter. I admired their spirit and support following her playing. John and I are glad we got to meet them. We are sorry to hear of his death.

    • I met Don when I got hired in at Boeing in 1985 as an Industrial Engineer. Don was my mentor and friend throughout my career. Praying for his family.

  2. Dear Amy, I was so sorry to hear of your great loss! I remember what a sweet couple you and Don were when you first met at Kansas Newman and can see that God has greatly blessed your marriage with a beautiful family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Judy Krogmeier Studer

  3. I went to Newman with Don back in the late 70s/early 80s. We didn’t know each other well but we got along. I enjoyed watching him play basketball all those long Autumns ago. Last time I talked to him was about ten years ago. My sympathies to his family and friends. —-Jeff Baker, Wichita, KS.

  4. I’ve been deeply saddened since hearing the news about Me Brugmans passing. I extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to the entire Burgman family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. Don and I attended Jamestown High School in Jamestown, North Dakota. Don was a great friend and I truly enjoyed being around him and watching him play basketball. This is such a great loss. Prayers being sent the Brugman family.

  6. Amy , Duane and I am so sorry for your loss. You two always reminded me of us with a lot of kids and lots of activities going on. I know it will be hard for you and family now, but we have some great memories. I loved bowling with you and knowing your family and praying that God will comfort you in the days ahead. Love to all of you. Doris
