Donald Eugene Richardson, 83, of Wichita, KS passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, on December 12, 2022 and entered into the kingdom of heaven to be with our Lord and Savior.Dr. Don Richardson was born on May 17, 1939 in Thomas, Oklahoma to Theo and Elverda Richardson. Don was a graduate of Thomas High School, class of 1957, where he played football and was a two-time state champion. He also played basketball, was a track athlete and a band saxophonist. He received his BA from Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Weatherford in 1961. He went on to earn his Master’s degree at the University of Oklahoma, as well as his PhD in 1979. He was an avid and proud OU sports fan, scratch golfer and loved to travel.Don was a fun-loving, friendly PE teacher at OK elementary school in Wichita during the 1970s while working to earn his doctorate. He was principal at John Glenn elementary in Oklahoma City, Stanley elementary in Wichita and Rex elementary in Haysville. Don later retired from The Boeing Company where he was a management quality trainer and would be remembered as an affable, engaging, entertaining and influential educator.Don is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Henrietta. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenda; his sister, Gail Wood of Jackson, MS; daughter, Marla Rohrdanz (Geoff) of Andover; son, Bryan Richardson (Vona) of Wichita; as well as his grandchildren, Ashley Wilson (Tyler), Nathan Richardson (Madi), Abigail Richardson, Sara Oliver (Thor) and Ryan Rohrdanz (Stephenie); along with 5 great-grandkids, Emma, Grayson, Rosalind, Finn and Arthur Henry; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.We are honoring Don’s wishes to not have a service but remember him in your prayers and hearts.
