Donald Eugene Weesner passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the age of 75. He was born August 28, 1947 in Halstead, Kansas to Gladys Ewert and Melvin Weesner, who preceded him in death along with brother Everett Weesner. Don proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later served in the Air Force Reserves, retiring after 28 years of service. Don spent his career with the Department of Veteran Affairs working in microbiology and information technology. He enjoyed his retirement adventuring alongside the love of his life and caring for his beloved grandchildren, Henli and Whit, to whom he was affectionately known as “Pop Pop.”Don is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Linda A. (Frisch) Weesner. He is also survived by sister, Delores Mages of Hemet, CA; brother, William (Edna) Weesner of Wichita, KS; daughter, Veronica Weesner of Kansas City, KS; son, Steven (Bethany) Weesner of Wichita, KS; and his two grandchildren. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 18, 2022; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Monday, September 19, 2022, both at Church of the Magdalen Catholic Church.Memorials have been established with: Greater Wichita YMCA, 402 N. Market, Wichita, KS 67206; Church of the Magdalen Catholic Church, 12626 E. 21st St, Wichita, KS 67206.Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.
