Donna Schroeder Arnold

Donna (Hundley) Schroeder Arnold, passed away at age 86 on May 17, 2018. Donna was born in Derby, Kansas to Harry Hundley and Ivy Pearl Dwyer Hundley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Schroeder; daughter, Kristen Loanne; son-in-law, Robert Shepler; husband, Robert Arnold; brothers, Lyle, Lynn, and Keith Hundley; and sister, Glenna Mae Smith. Donna was a proud East High Ace and graduated in 1950. She married Floyd Schroeder in 1952. She was an artist, homemaker, realtor, and long-time volunteer for St. Francis Hospital and Meals on Wheels. Donna served on the boards for Project Beauty, Wichita Symphony Women, Wichita Arts Council, Kansas Arts Commission, Music Theater of Wichita, and for 28 years, the Election Board. She was a Democratic Precinct Committee Ward Supervisor and President of the Sedgwick County Democrat Women. One of her favorite memories was being escorted across the ballroom floor by President John F. Kennedy. Over the years Donna entertained and delighted hundreds of kids on Halloween by “witching” on the front porch. Donna was proud of her Irish heritage and was an exceptional Irish beauty with raven hair and blue eyes. She will always be remembered for year-round family celebrations, and the more than a dozen delicious pies she lovingly prepared for her family each Thanksgiving and Christmas. We will miss her quick wit, her astuteness and knowledge of local and national politics and issues, and her delight in her grandchildren’s accomplishments. Donna is survived by her children, Jane Shepler of Folsom, CA, Mark Schroeder (Sharon) of Derby, Susan Duffy (Clark) of Topeka, Amy Schroeder of Wichita, Matthew Schroeder (Candace) of Montrose, CO; grandchildren, Timothy (Bianca) Shepler, Megan Shepler, Kate Shepler, Preston (Lauren) Schroeder, Jennifer Schroeder, Harrison (Jessica) Schroeder, Erin Staggenborg (Lance), Brenna Duffy, and Colin Duffy; great grandchildren, Harper, Henry, Robert and soon to come Henry William; many loving nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Harley Francis. Visitation with Donnas Family will be from 5:30 - 7:00 pm; Rosary at 7 pm, Tuesday, May 29, at Downing Lahey East Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
