Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
Doris was one of my favorites in my P.E.O. group. We loved having her play the piano and she always had a kind or humorous word to say when we were together. I visited her several times and knew how much she loved her cats-she once told me that she wanted to be buried with them. One time at a meeting at my home, my cat raced under her long skirt. How we laughed! I am thankful for her as a P.E.O. sister and all the fond memories. I will certainly miss her, My heart goes out to the family.
We are so sorry to learn of the death of Doris. The Hilton family and the Everitt family shared many many times together and Doris will be missed.
Mrs. Everitt was my middle school English teacher. She was such a sweetheart, & I just loved her! I was going through a terrible time, with my parents in the middle of a very messy divorce, and there were several times that I talked to her about it. She always took the time to listen, & I knew she genuinely cared. She was a wonderful teacher & mentor, and I know she touched many, many lives.
My condolences to the family. Doris was a friend and donor to our agency. I hoped to make the funeral/celebration of her life but a speaking engagement went unexpectedly long. I was always very fond of Doris. She and I understood the pain of having no children of our own and often shared stories. She was an amazing person with so many interesting life experiences. The last time I visited with Doris in assisted living she was up and doing well. I pray she did not linger in pain as she passed. The staff of United Methodist Open Door (formerly United Methodist Urban Ministry)extends our prayers to your family. We will miss Doris’ great stories. Doris (Mrs. Everitt) to her students was my 6th grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School, Wichita Kansas school year 1954-1955. She was a wonderful teacher and person. I was able to see her around 2008 where she was residing in assisted living. A wonderful meeting. She said several times that she wanted to go home. You are ‘Home’ now my dear Mrs. Everitt. Godspeed and thank you for sharing a part of your life with us. It was a pleasure.
Over 13 years in Paradise now my dear “Mr. Everitt” as we knew you at Jefferson Elementary School, 6th Grade Class of 1954-55. You are now eternally reunited with your loving Theodore, and other family, friends, loved ones, and at least four of your 1954-55 class. Again, thank you for the wonderful and unforgettable memories of that school year and for sharing a part of your life with us, and me. Again, unforgettable. So glad I was able to visit you in assisted living before you left us. And what a wonderful reunion it was. Unforgettable.
