On the evening of April 9, 2019, Doris Mae (Vaughan) Rohr passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at the age of 92, at Regent Park.  Born at home in Meadow Grove, Nebraska, on July 3, 1926, she was the second daughter of Charles and Mary Vaughan.  Charles passed away when Doris was just nine months old, and years later, Mary met and married Lawrence Gales of Belpre, Kansas.  Together they added another son and daughter to the family.  Doris lived on the farm and attended school in Belpre.  After graduation in 1944, Doris moved to Wichita to attend Business College.  She worked as a secretary to an oil company executive downtown and enjoyed living and socializing in Wichita. In the summer of 1948, she met Al Rohr.  They were married in Belpre on May 10, 1949.  They soon started their family and by 1961, they had five children.  The first-born is Diane (Kent) Nelson of Colorado Springs and their children and grandchildren are Kirsten and Derek of Colorado Springs, and MacKenna (Eddie) Barron and their boys Max and Benny of Tempe, Arizona.  The second-born is Don and his two sons are in California, Andy of Costa Mesa and Alex of Irvine.  The third-born is Steve (Mary Jo) and their children and grandchildren are Matt (Kate) Rohr and their three children, Luke, Ava and Olivia, and Melanie Rohr, all of Wichita.  The  fourth-born is Becky (Rob) Wright of Wichita and her four children are Sarah (Travis) Wheeler and their sons Charlie and Cooper of Norman, Oklahoma; Rachel (Mike) Dixon and their daughter, Alexandra of Portland, Oregon; Scott (Stephanie) Ellsworth and their girls, Claire and Grace of Phoenix, Arizona and Molly (Ian) Ellsworth and their daughter, Bailey, of Denver, Colorado.  The last-born is Karen (Alan) Seaton of Overland Park, Kansas and their children are Haley and Natalie of Overland Park, Kansas, and Joel of Kansas City, Missouri.  Doris is also survived by her sister, Margaret (Gales) Waters of Macksville, Kansas.  Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, her sister Marian (Vaughan) Jones of Carlsbad, New Mexico and her brother Robert Gales of Belpre, Kansas. Besides being a busy mother of five and a homemaker, Doris enjoyed bowling, exercising and socializing.  She helped with the family business, Wichita Drapery and Carpet Company, by sending invoices and doing other paperwork.  Doris enjoyed traveling.  When her children were young, the family made many trips to visit relatives as well as taking summer vacations.  In the summer months, they often spent weekends at the lake. During retirement, she enjoyed playing in several bridge groups, as well as playing golf.  She continued to travel to see her grandchildren and take trips with her sisters.  Doris and Al became “snowbirds” and she spent the winter months in Arizona or Texas. Doris cared for Alvin until his passing in 2010.  She continued traveling to see her children and grandchildren for their momentous occasions.  She took several cruises visiting Alaska, The Caribbean and passing through the Panama Canal.  Doris enjoyed many years with great friends, but she was most fond of the time spent with her family. Rosary 7 pm Thursday April 11, 2019 and Funeral Mass Friday, April 12, 2019 at 10 am.  Both at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church 1321 N Stratford Ln. Entombment at Ascension Cemetery.
