Dorothy L. Schmidt

Schmidt, Dorothy L., was born April 12, 1920 on a farm in Independence, Kansas. She married to Billy Eugene Schmidt in Sedgwick, Kansas on Nov. 14, 1948. When her children were young Dorothy was a homemaker and was very involved in their activities. Throughout her life she was also involved with her church, book clubs, bridge clubs, and sailing with her husband. Dorothy and Billy loved the arts and rarely missed a performance of the Wichita Symphony or the Wichita Music Theater. Dorothy and her sister, Louise, took many car trips across the United States. Dorothy volunteered at Botanica and the Sedgwick County Zoo. Dorothy is preceded on death by her husband, Billy Eugene just 5 months earlier, after 67 years of marriage. She is survived by her son, William Schmidt (Carol); daughter, Pat Westerfield; grandchildren, Shay Schmidt, Whitney Krumsick, and Tanner Westerfield (Kelly); great-grandchildren, Kirby and Lucy Krumsick, and Victoria and Ryan Westerfield.
