Douglas Lyle Kidd, 70, passed away surrounded by his family on November 1, 2017. Born and raised in Kansas, he was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and graduated from Kansas State University, where he met his wife of 45 years, Diana. He was retired from SC Johnson & Sons but lived for his family his wife, children, grandchildren, and more. Though often described as kind, patient, generous, ornery and funny, he was perhaps best known for his uncomplaining and upbeat spirit. He was an avid sports fan from professional sports to his granddaughters soccer games. He was most at home when he was spending time with his family at their Eureka Lake cabin, where he taught innumerable children and adults how to waterski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Lyle Kidd. He is survived by his wife, Diana; daughter, Laura (David) Mayans; son, Brett (Melody) Kidd; brother, Roger (Paula) Kidd; sister, Cindy (Gary) Soehner; granddaughters, Gabriella Mayans, Chloey and Faye Kidd; numerous nieces and nephews. Vigil will be at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Visitation will follow from 4:30 6:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 6, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Burial immediately following at Ascension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid America Chapter, 7611 State Line, Ste. 100, Kansas City, MO 64114; or Inter-Faith Ministries of Wichita, 829 N. Market, Wichita, KS 67214.
