Douglas Stimson

September 19, 1955 ~ July 31, 2024
Douglas Stimson, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and son, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the age of 68. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Doug was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 19,1955 to Robert and Betty Stimson. He grew up working in the garden and on the farm where he developed a love for the outdoors. Doug was an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. He pursued a degree in Landscape Technology and moved to Minnesota to work for Bailey Wholesale Nursery. He later returned to Wichita where he worked loyally for Love Box Company as a Grounds Coordinator for 25 years.
In the summers, Doug would spend time with his family at their property on Grand Lake, creating lifelong memories. Doug had a sweet and nurturing nature. He made Sunday dinner for his daughters, Emily and Meredith, every weekend. He loved to make fried chicken, mashed potatoes and fresh green beans from the garden.
Doug is survived by his daughters, Emily Montgomery of Wichita, KS and Meredith Stimson of Kansas City, MO; brother, Craig Stimson of Chelan, WA; sister, Anita Saindon of Haysville, KS; and granddaughter, Sophia Montgomery. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Stimson; brothers, Larry and John Stimson; and granddaughter, Gracelyn Stimson
Memorial Service will be at 11:30 am, Friday, August 16, 2024, at RiverWalk Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to March of Dimes, 1550 Crystal Dr., Ste. 1300, Arlington, VA 22202; or plant a tree for Doug please.

Doug and I were close friends back when we worked together at Love Box Company. He was a good man and loved his daughters very much. Our condolences to Emily, Meredith, and all of his family and loved ones.

I’ve just gotten to know Doug over the past few years. Even while his health was declining I saw him do everything in his power to support his daughters. He always greeted me with a smile and sent me off with an “I love you”. He had a sweet and sincere nature, a dedication to family, and a unmatched sense of determination.
I see his pure and sincere sweetness in his daughters. It’s clear that he passed along a deep respect for nature and the values of loyalty, discipline, and persistence.
He will be missed and remembered often.
