Duane Lewis Wilson, 87, retired bank loan officer and former Boston Red Sox player, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Visitation, 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 14, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Service, 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 15, at Riverside Christian Church. Preceded in death by parents, Lewis and Bessie Wilson; wife, Carol Sue Wilson, and sister, Sharon Shuey. Survivors: daughters, Diana (Shawn) Miller, Lori (Steve) Mans, Kari (Tom) Hickey; brothers, Dale Wilson and Gerald (Rosa) Wilson; sister, Jo Ann VanDeusen; grandchildren, Katie, Kyle, Kory, Martin (Kari), Marshall (Micaela) and Austin; 4 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial has been established with Grace Cottage, 531 Crestline, Wichita, KS 67212.

  1. I met Duane in the late 1960’s while playing Fast-Pitch Softball. We were teammates one season and opponents the rest through the 1970’s. He was a very good player and an even better guy. A hoot to be around. I still enjoy some of his witticisms. Goodnight, and Godspeed Duane, and thank you for the wonderful memories from long ago. Unforgettable.
