Dwight Glenn 86, retired Vice President of Operations for DeKalb AgResearch and Hybritech Seed International passed from this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Memorial Service, 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 19, Woodland United Methodist Church, 1100 W. 15th Street, Wichita. Preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Nola Glenn; sister, Leona Bleier; infant son, Scott Edwin Glenn. Survivors: his wife of 61 years, Barbara (Swisher) Glenn, originally of Lyndon, KS; son, Phillip (Marlene) Glenn of Wichita; daughter, Jennifer (Steven Williams) of Frisco, TX; sister, Mary Jane Oberhelman of Topeka; grandchildren, Scott (Cara) Glenn of Dubai, UAE, Emily (Brian) Stockton of Wichita, Spencer Glenn of Westwood, KS; great-grandchildren, Lillian Jo Glenn, Molly Glenn and Tommy Stockton. Mr. Glenn was born November 18, 1931 in Topeka, KS. Following graduation from Washburn Rural High School in 1949, Mr. Glenn worked on the family farm before serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. After leaving the service, he entered Kansas State College, graduating in 1959 with degrees in Agriculture and Business Administration. Following graduation, Mr. Glenn began work for the DeKalb Agricultural Association, commencing what would become a 38 year career in the agricultural seed business. The early years of his career took Mr. Glenns family to several locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Illinois, before settling in Wichita in 1967. In Wichita, Mr. Glenn served as Vice President of Operations for DeKalb AgResearch and Hybritech Seed International. His efforts for both companies were devoted to the development and marketing of commercial grade varieties of hybrid wheat seed. During his career, Mr. Glenn was active in several industry groups, serving as President of the Kansas Crop Improvement Assn., the Kansas Seed Industry Assn. and the American Seed Trade Assn. In the Wichita community he was a dedicated member of Woodland United Methodist Church for 51 years, serving in a variety of leadership roles, the most enjoyable being his time as the church gardener for nearly 20 years. He also enjoyed the opportunity to serve as Director of Twin Lakes Junior Football and the North High School Booster club. He was also a loyal supporter of the Wichita Symphony, Music Theatre of Wichita, and Kansas State University.
