Dwight L. Nelson

Dwight L. Nelson, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on February 19, 1949, in St. Francis, Kansas to Leonard and Edna Nelson. Dwight attended St. Francis High School and graduated from Fort Hays State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Diana, and together they shared 55 wonderful years of love, laughter and adventures.

He had a deep love of riding motorcycles, finding joy and freedom on the open road. One of his greatest pleasures was watching his grandchildren play sports. He was their biggest fan and always enjoyed getting the chance to go and cheer them on. Above all, he was the one we could always count on. Whether we had a question or needed a hand with something, he was there – steady, supportive, and always willing to help. His presence was a quiet strength in all our lives.

Dwight is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Edna Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Diana Nelson of Goddard, KS; daughter, Jerri (Mike) McNaught of Wichita, KS; sons, Ryan (Crystal) Nelson of Goddard, KS, Chuck Nelson of Goddard, KS; grandchildren, Lauren McNaught, Ava McNaught, Lane Nelson, Wyatt Nelson, Corbin Nelson, Addilyn Nelson, Alyvia Nelson, and Brooks Nelson.

A private family graveside service was held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, 19221 W. 6^th Street S, Goddard, KS 67052 on Wednesday, July 2^, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
