Eastwood, E. Frances, 98, died Sunday, September 2, 2012 in Wichita. A memorial service will be held at the chapel of College Hill Methodist Church, Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 10:30 AM. A private graveside service will be held Friday, September 14. Frances was born on a farm near Glencoe, Oklahoma, February 20, 1914, to Frank and Mabel (Bowen) Eastwood. She grew up in Iola, Kansas, Morrison, Oklahoma and graduated from Valley Center HS in 1932. She received her Bachelors in Education from Friends University and her Masters from the University of Northern Colorado. She began teaching 1st graders in Fowler and El Dorado. The majority of her career was spent teaching in Wichita at Washington and Wilson elementary schools. She was active in Delta Kappa Gamma Womens Fraternity, Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Lamba Theta, International honor societies for educators, plus many other professional and civic organizations. She retired from teaching 1st graders after more than 40 years of dedicated service helping young children learn to read. She is survived by her sister, Clara Mabel, of Jefferson City, MO, a niece, 2 nephews, and 2 great nephews. Frances family would like to thank the employees of Catholic Care Center for their kindness and dedicated service and care.
