Edward L. Barker

Edward L. Barker, 91, retired Life Insurance underwriter with New York Life, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016. Served in the Navy WWII, Active Volunteer for over 50 years with Hillside Christian Church, Optimist club of Wichita, the YMCA, and many others. When he wasnt working he could be found volunteering or fishing. Memorial Service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, August 26, 2016 at Hillside Christian Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice "Bea;" parents, John and Lena; sisters, Beverly Dickerson and Thelma Humpherys. Survived by his children, Lance (Lisa Lesley) Barker and LeeAnn Underwood (Eric); granddaughter, Morgian Cannady (Zack); 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Wucherpfenning. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Greater Wichita YMCA, 402 N. Market, Wichita KS 67202 and Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E. Douglas, Wichita KS 67206.
