Elaine Classen, 90, died Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She was born on April 22, 1931, in Enid, OK to Henry and Frances (Windler) Ehlers. After she graduated from Oklahoma State University, she married Walt Classen on July 7, 1954. She served as PTA president for Wilbur Junior High, a charter member of Northwest High School Booster Club, Board of Directors at WSU Lutheran Center, and President of Rotary Ann. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Charlotte Dickman. She is survived by six nieces and nephews and their families. Public Viewing will be from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm, Friday, November 5, 2021, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Ascension Lutheran Church. Service will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/c/AscensionLutheranChurchWichitaKS. A memorial has been established with Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 N. Tyler Rd., Wichita, KS 67212. Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.

Walt and Elaine were my mentors at church. I remember going over there and talking for hours about their fond memories of their daughter and life together. They were such a strong aspect of my middle school and high school years. They welcomed my family and I as their own, and they will always hold a special place in my heart. May they all Rest In Peace finally together as a family again. Love you dearly. -Amber.
