Elaine (Huntley) Peters, Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and aunt, was taken home after a long illness on Sunday, August 7, 2016. Elaine was born December 19, 1946 to Chester and Grace (Noll) Huntley in St. Louis, MO. She is preceded in death by her father, Chester Huntley, and stepfather, Erwin Noll. She is survived by her mother, Grace Noll of St. Louis, MO; husband, Thomas; four sons, Brent (his daughters, Avery and Samantha Peters) of Fort Collins, CO; Todd (wife, Holly Marie) of Winfield, KS; Scott of Los Angeles, CA, Mark of Wichita, KS; brothers, David Huntley of Bend, OR, and James Huntley of Wichita, KS. Elaine spent her young school life in many different cities while her father studied art at the Chicago Art Institute and later served the US Navy during the Korean War. She attended the University of Missouri where she majored in premedical studies and graduated as a certified Medical Technologist. While working at the VA and University of Missouris clinical chemistry labs, she met her prince charming, Thomas J. Peters. Soon they were married, Tom enrolled in medical school, and they had their first child, Brent, all before moving back to Wichita for Toms residency with the Kansas University Wichita Branch. Elaine continued to work as a medical technologist until the birth of their second child, Todd. She then retired from working outside the home, becoming a full-time mother and housewife. She spent time as a community volunteer. She volunteered for the Wichita Historical Museum working for the board and the wreath festival. She was a member of Junior League of Wichita, Wichita Symphony Women Support Group, Starkey Mothers Support Group, and school board member at Blessed Sacrament School. As her children began to go off to college, Elaine pursued her love for the arts. Encouraged by a friend to pursue costume design, she enrolled in the WSU School of Theatre and Costume Design. She devoted many volunteer hours costuming shows around Wichita, mostly for young people. Upon retiring from costuming, she started up a small pattern design business, selling on eBay and her website. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Music Theater for Young People, 225 W.
