Skinner, Elizabeth Mae, 93, died at her home in Wichita, Kansas, on April 17, 2014. Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Downing and Lahey East Mortuary in Wichita. Elizabeth was born September 19, 1920 in Hutchinson, Kansas to William and Cora (Reed) McCandless. She grew up on Brandy Lake in Reno County, Kansas, graduated from Hutchinson High School and attended Hutchinson Junior College. She married William Arthur Skinner on June 16, 1940, and moved to Wichita during the war years. After raising her family, she worked for many years as a welcome Wagon hostess in Wichita. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, enjoyed cooking, gardening, painting watercolors, cross-stitching samplers and was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon on January 12, 2008 and her husband on March 25, 2013. She also was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and their spouses, George, Robert (Jeanne), Earl (Virginia), Willis (Delores); two sisters and their spouses; Helen (Joe) Peacock, and Edna (Vernon) Hamilton. She leaves behind sons; Thomas W. (Marilyn) Skinner of Alpharetta, GA, James A. (Lynn) Skinner of Perry, KS, grandchildren; Karen (Brad) Botts of Overland Park, KS, Katherine Skinner of Atlanta, GA, William J. Skinner of Canton, GA, Gina Skinner and Jamie Skinner both of Lawrence, KS, great-grandchildren; Ashley and Nicole Botts, and brother, Richard (Mary) McCandless of Belton, MO. Family suggests memorials to PALS Animal Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 47342, Wichita, KS 67201.
