Elmer “Bob” Witt 84, Retired 26 year Army Veteran, highly decorated, and 20 years with Veterans Administration, died Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M., Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 19, 2015, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lydia Witt; daughter-in-law, Brenda Witt; brother, Otto Witt, Jr.; sister, Erma Cocke. Survived by his wife, Betty “Jane” Witt; sons, Ronald Witt of Columbia, SC, Tim Witt (Linda) of Pensacola, FL, Robert “Danny” Witt (Cheryl), Steven Witt (Tonia), both Wichita, KS; daughters, Nancy Everett (Dale) of Council Grove, KS, Deborah “Deb” Beals (Steve) of Wichita, KS; sisters, Jeanne Haynes of Sacramento, CA, Barbara Bryan of Rathdrum, ID; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. Bob was an avid K-State fan, loved to travel, and lived for his family. He loved life. A memorial has been established with Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
