Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
I hope that your family still reads these tributes. I am MA2(SW) Laramie formaly FC2(SW) Laramie and I served onboard the USS Cleveland with Eric. I just heard about him this evening from another shipmate onboard the Cleveland. Eric was BY FAR the BEST department head that I have had in my ten year Naval career. Please accept my depest sympathys on the loss of a good friend and mentor. If there was anyone that I strived to be like in my career it was him. NO officer in the Navy I have met was like him. A true friend and by far the best person in a uniform that commanded troops that I have ever met. HE IS AND WILL BE MISSED FOR YEARS TO COME. My prayers are with your family! Once again I am so sorry. Very Respectfully, Matthew P. Laramie MA2(SW), USN
My name is Denise Brown. I just learned of Eric’s death about an hour ago. I don’t even know what to do. We dated back in 97 and have kept in touch since. I talked to him on the 31st of July and we had been talking about him moving here to Bloomington Indiana after he retired. We had a long talk that day and we had many long talks. I love Eric and he knew it. He told me he was going on a command trip to Michigan for two weeks. I called him command to try to contact him. That’s when I found out. My thoughts and prayers are with you. If you want to contact me please do. If I can help in any way please ask. My number is 812-336-8071. Denise Brown 8/19/05
