Eric Sunao Kuwahara has gone to join our Lord on June 27, 2022. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 20, 1947, to Harry and Edna Kuwahara. he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he attended LA High and USC and graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting and the military rank of Lt. in the Air Force. He was stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita, KS as controller and pay master. He met his wife Anne (Rittgers) and they had three children: daughters, Sherrie Kuwahara of Mulvane, KS, Kimberly (Abner) Goodbear of El Reno, OK; son, Mark (Sarah) Kuwahara. He has eight grandchildren, Kelly Wunsch, R. Alexander Mallatt, Victoria Mallatt, Morgan Benninghoff, Frank Benninghoff, Madison Goodbear, Leah Kuwahara, Kole Kuwahara. Also survived by his siblings, Janice (John) Dawson of Cerritos, CA, Wayne Kuwahara of Grants Pass, OR, Lynn Kuwahara of Los Angeles, CA; and nieces and nephews. His parents and son preceded him in death. He worked as controller for EBY Construction, Litwin, Burnard & Bark, Jacobs Engineering Group, Shaw Group, and Allied Nevada Gold before retiring in 2015. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Whittier, CA. Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2525 N. Rock Rd., Wichita, KS. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.

  2. Eric and I played golf together in the same group at Rolling Hills C.C. years ago before I moved to Lawrence back in 1984. He was the nicest guy and a pretty good golfer. Our condolences to the family.

  3. I just found out about Eric. My condolences to the family. I worked with Eric at Litwin. He was a wonderful person and I will always have fond memories of him.
