Eva Weatherwax
August 11, 1945 ~ July 28, 2015
Eva (Benson) Weatherwax, 69, Registered Nurse passed away peacefully Tuesday at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. She fought this terrible disease with the same strength and optimism that she displayed throughout her life. Eva was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Aug 11, 1945, to Inez and Sylvester Starliper. They later moved to Wichita, where she attended East High School. She received her nursing diploma from Wesley School of Nursing in 1966. She spent the majority of her career as an RN caring for the mentally ill. Eva will be remembered as the most loving and devoted wife and mother, proud grandmother, loyal friend, and dedicated nurse. Her strength in the face of the losses and tragedies she suffered throughout her life can only be admired and respected. Her daughters and grandchildren will strive to live up to the same standards she set with her courage, love for life, and devotion to her family. Eva is preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Benson; and daughter, Rhonda Benson. She is survived by husband, William Weatherwax; daughter, Melissa Leigh (Rick) of Prosper, TX; daughter, Stephanie Card (Aaron) of Buffalo, MN; and grandchildren, Alex And Madeline Leigh, Rhonda, Jacob, and Sydney Card. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 4 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Vigil will be Wednesday, August 5 at 10:00 A.M. both at Downing Lahey East Mortuary.
