Evelyn Batts, 98, died Tuesday, February 28, 2023.Evelyn was born near Jamestown, KS on May 11, 1924 to Harry and Violet Nelson. She and her family moved from Mississippi to Salina, KS in 1960 to be closer to her side of the family. She was a retired associate of J.C. Penney's. She had been a resident of Homestead Estates care facility in Wichita since 2017.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John W. Batts; son, Randall Batts; sister, Donna Hansen Lehne; brother, Robert D. Nelson. She is survived by a son, James Batts of Wichita; and numerous nieces and nephews.Per her wishes, no services will be held. Interment will be at the Danish Lutheran Church near Jamestown, KS.Evelyn was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend.Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.

Godspeed Evelyn. A kind, caring and loving soul that will be dearly missed, and lovingly remembered. Now eternally reunited with her loving husband John after almost 40 years, and other family, friends and loved ones gone before. My sympathies to Evelyn’s family.
So sorry to hear this. Evelyn was a very special person in my life. Did visit a couple of times in 2017,then didn’t know where she was. Sympathy to Jamie.
