Evelyn E. Spilman

Spilman, Evelyn E., 86, a long-time resident of Bloomington/Normal, IL, died on June 2 at Larksfield Place in Wichita, Kansas. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 8 at 11:00 at Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, IL, Rev. Rebecca White-Newgren officiating. Evelyn will be interred in the East Lawn Mausoleum immediately after the service. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joan Spilman of Wichita, Kansas, and three grandchildren: Catherine, Margaret and Allen. She is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; and her brother, Robert. She was born on January 30, 1921, to Glenn and Elsie Rupp of Carlock, Illinois, and on January 20, 1946, married Roy Spilman in Long Beach, California. Both had previously worked for State Farm Insurance, and when they returned to the area after WW II, the company rehired them. Evelyn worked in the Payroll Department at State Farm for 39 years, retiring in 1986. In retirement she was an avid traveler and did volunteer work at the McLean County Historical Society, Second Presbyterian Church and the Home Sweet Home Mission.
