Ferrell, Margaret Ruth (Parrish), 88, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010. She was born January 19, 1922 in Sedalia, MO to Lee S. and Lula Pearl (Franklin) Parrish. All her life, Margaret was affectionately referred to as “Sis” by her brothers and sisters, a nick name given to her by her father. As a teenager, Margaret worked at several homes in the Sedalia area doing housework and babysitting. In early 1943, she traveled to Springfield, IL with her aunt Florence for aircraft manufacturing training, moving to Wichita later that year to work for Culver Aircraft where she worked building trainer aircraft for the war effort. She married Kenneth M. Ferrell on August 23, 1943. She later worked at the F. W. Woolworth variety store located in downtown Wichita, retiring after 16 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth M., brothers, Donald and James Parrish and sister, Marjorie Taylor. She is survived by 4 sisters, Ila Mae Nichols of Overland Park, KS, Betty Smith of Whittier, CA, Lu Knight of DeLand, FL and Doris Klein of Sedalia, MO; 2 sons, Kenneth (Donna) of Clearwater, KS, Roy of Wichita and her grandson, Wade of Clearwater. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 29, at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. A memorial has been established with the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS, 67219.
