Frances Evelyn Barrett Beard

Beard, Frances Evelyn Barrett, 91, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, in Wichita, Kansas. Frances was born to Harrison Morton Barrett and Clara Eva Miller on August 31, 1916, in Wichita. She graduated from Wichita North High School in 1934, and attended the Municipal University of Wichita (WSU) and was an Alpha Tau Sigma (Delta Gamma) sorority sister until she graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts in 1938. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years Elbert L. Beard, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Jeannette “Jean” Beard. Frances is survived by her son, Richard (Doris), grandchildren, Chad (Holly), Shannon and Scott and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Aubrey, all of Wichita. Memorials have been established with the Wichita State Foundation, 1845 Fairmount, Wichita, KS 67260-30002, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202 and Palmer Lake Colorado Historical Society, P.O. Box 662, Palmer Lake, CO 80133. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, June 29 at 7:00 pm and services will be Monday, June 30 at 10:00 am both at Downing and Lahey East Mortuary, interment will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
