Francis P. Frank Gettings, Jr.

GODDARD - Francis P. “Frank” Gettings, Jr., 82, retired Government Aircraft Inspector passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016. The Air Force brought Frank to Wichita in 1954 where he met his bride of 62 years, the former Lila Degenhardt. He was awarded the Defense Logistics Agency Meritorious Civilian Service Award, the highest government civilian award, upon his retirement after 36 years of government service. A passionate runner, he finished marathons in Wichita, Houston and New York. He is survived by his wife, Lila; sister, Marie Patnaud; children, Marie (Nick) Motowylak, Frank (Sharry) Gettings III, Annette Gettings and Cindy (Mike) Solis; grandchildren, Melissa Athie, Stacy and Brian Gettings, Austin (Nicole) and Nolan Solis, Briley Lewis, and one great-grandson, Alfredo Athie. Visitation and Rosary, 7 p.m., Thursday, January 28, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m., Friday, January 29, Church of the Holy Spirit in Goddard. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Church of the Holy Spirit.
