Frank L. Hutchins

Frank L Hutchins, age 75, of Wichita, KS, passed away on May 20, 2021 with his wife and daughters at his side. He was born on May 24, 1945 in Enid, OK, where he grew up and graduated from Enid High School. He went to college at NWOSU, was a Vietnam combat veteran (1967-1969), and earned his Masters’ Degree in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma. He worked 35 years with Sedgwick County Comcare as an LSCSW, retiring in 2010. He will lie in state at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West on Monday, May 24, from 8 AM to 8 PM. Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. A Rosary will be said at 9:30 AM; The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 AM, both at the church. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Hutchins and Retha Callaway Hutchins; brother, Don Horn; and sister, Georgia Carpenter. He is survived by Linda, his wife of 53 years; daughters, Amy (Sean) Ackerson and Jill (Anthony) Brkovich; five grandchildren, Garrett and Brendan Ackerson, Adam, Claire, and Lorelei Brkovich. He is also survived by his sisters, June Long and Betty Moorman. Frank enjoyed exercise, coaching his daughters in sports, reading, OU sports, dancing, music, and traveling with Linda throughout Europe and visiting grandkids. He and Linda used to DJ at weddings and other events back in the disco days. He loved his family, being around people, and socializing. He leaves them with heavy hearts and many Frank-isms. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
I remember the times when Linda, Frank, Cheryl Tarrant and myself would have dinner together in Northwestern’s cafeteria. It was something that started quite innocently that later formed a strong bond for us during our senior year of college. Rest In Peace my friend.
