Franklin B. Rosell

Rosell, Franklin B, 81, of Wichita passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014. Rosary will be Friday, November 14, 2014 at 6:00 P.M.; Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 15, 2014; both at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Frank was born on November 28, 1932, to Max Rosell and Rosella Ante in Wichita, Kansas. Frank graduated from Cathedral High School in 1950. He was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1955 as an Aviation Machinists Mate, 2nd Class. While serving on the Wichita Fire Department, Frank attended classes at Wichita State University and became an EMT. Frank later taught CPR and First Aid classes for the Boy Scouts and the American Red Cross. Frank became very interested in the history of Wichita, taking more classes at WSU. He wrote a paper on the AVI, the Ark Valley Interurban Railway, where his father, Max Rosell, was once employed. That train station is now the Broadview Hotel in Wichita. Frank began working full time at Shelley Electric Company after his retirement as a Captain with the WFD. He was very active in the Retired Fire Fighters Association for many years. He is survived by his wife, Helen, also known as Bobbe; his children, Kevin (Pat), Paul, Jeff, Brian, and Alison (Scott) Smeltzer; 20 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Rosell, Bill Rosell from the Detroit area. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Virgil and Rick; his sister, Beatrice; and his son, James Andrew Rosell. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 124 N. Roosevelt St. Wichita, KS 67208. Downing Lahey East Mortuary.
