Hattan, Freida Caroline (Priboth), 93, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011. She was born January 1, 1918, in Braman, OK, and attended Wichita Public Schools and Wichita University. Freida worked as secretary to the manager of the Lassen Hotel in downtown Wichita. She was a charter member of East Heights United Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women, Beta Sigma Phi, Wesley Hospital Occupational Therapy Committee, Tri Psi, For Fun Club, and numerous organizations. She and her husband, Garland, enjoyed many summers at their home in Woodland Park, CO. Her life was filled with family, friends, a love of entertaining, and genuine hospitality. Memorial service 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 14, 2011 at East Heights United Methodist Church. Freida was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years Garland Moore Hattan; their infant son, Brent Randall Hattan; brothers, Raymond, Roland, and Virgil Priboth; sister, Juanita Hattan Prucha. She is survived by daughters, Diane (Jim) Coughenour, of Leawood, KS, and Janet (Craig) McIlvain, of Wichita; grandchildren, Kristen (Justin) Baehr, Christian (Lea Ann) McIlvain, Jason (Julie) McIlvain, Katie (Mark) Jennings, Jennifer Coughenour, Peter McIlvain; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Johnathan, Lauren, Katelyn, and Josslyn McIlvain, Sophie and Wyatt Baehr, Barrett and Charlie Jennings; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Larksfield Place Health Care Center for their loving, compassionate care. A memorial has been established with East Heights United Methodist Church, 4407 East Douglas, Wichita, Kansas, 67218. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
