Gary Earl Edwards, 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was born on February 25, 1945 to Alan and Alberta Edwards in Portland, ME. He worked for Maine Central Railroad and Canadian Pacific Railroad before beginning his career with the U.S. Postal Service from which he retired. A Shriner, and member of the Pine Tree Lodge in Mattawamkeag, ME, he recently received his 40-year pin. Gary loved attending baseball games, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Bruce Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Allison Edwards of the home; a brother, Tim Edwards, of Rochester, NH; daughters, Lauralee (Mark) Townsend of Moore, OK, Christy (Scott) White of Wichita, KS, Karen (Troy) Bruening of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Stephanie (Nathanial) Chestnut of Canyon, TX, Zachary Webie of Edmond, OK, Hunter Korf of Bothell, WA, Joshua Bruening of Pensacola, FL; other family and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Wichita, KS. Donations can be made to Shriners Children's Boston, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.

  1. My name is Tom Dee and I worked with Gary a number of years at the U.S. Postal Service distribution plant in Hampden Maine. Gary was a dedicated employee and worked very hard. He was there every night and was a wonderful person to work with. He never complained and was an inspiration with what he dealt with physically to get the job done. He enjoyed working and loved to laugh as we worked through the night. My condolences to Allison and the family. May Gary rest in peace and God bless you all.
