Cocking, Gary Glenwood, 74, restaurateur, owner and operator of Harrys Uptown Bar and Grill, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 124 N. Roosevelt. Preceded in death by infant son, K. C. Cocking, and parents, Wilbur and Susie Cocking. Survivors: wife, Michele (Foley) Cocking; children, Gary Cocking II, Tracy Cocking Lebrun and Michael Paul Cocking (Megan Alexander), all of Wichita; grandchildren, Victoria B McBride (Ryan), Maninoa Ah-san, Miranda A. Lebrun, Mariah A. Lebrun and Aspin K. Cocking. Memorials have been established with Blessed Sacrament School, 125 N. Quentin, Wichita, KS, 67208 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

  5. Dear Michele, I was so very sorry to hear about Gary. It is never a good time to lose a loved one but during the Holidays seems harder than other times. Bill and I both really loved talking to Gary and hearing all his stories. He always had a smile on his face. You took such good care of him~~ I know you have a star in heaven with him! I know I am just a vendor of Harry’s and didn’t know him personally but he sure did make me feel like a friend. I am sure I can speak for all your vendors when I say it was truly a pleasure to work for Gary and he will be missed greatly. I am so thankful I had the chance to know him. What a wonderful man! I will keep your family in my prayers.

  13. My deepest regrets to the family .Not sure you will remeber me but I sold grocery to Gary & Michele when she was in business. I worked for F&E & then later Kraft (Alliant). I always enjoyed doing business with Gary or if I would see him anyplace we would visit.And I’m sure he will be missed
