George H. Tomlin

George H. Tomlin, 95, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, died Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.

George was the retired owner/operator of Major Inc. concrete and paving company in Wichita. He worked on interstate and other highway system construction projects nationwide. He graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia with a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. George was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked hard to provide for his family and community, including having served as a Goddard School Board member and President.

George is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Earl and Mary Ella Tomlin; and brother, Lee Tomlin. He is survived by his wife, Dorris Ellen Tomlin; daughters, Kay (Cliff) Premer of Wichita, Julie Lee (Michael) Hull of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Lance Tomlin of Lawrence, Kansas; granddaughters, Charlotte (Erick), Amanda (Ted); grandson, Byron; brother, Horace “Tommy” Tomlin; sister, Jeane Thon; and five great-grandchildren.
