Dr. Gerald L. Howell, 84, passed away May 1, 2017 surrounded by his wife and family. Born January 15, 1933 in Frankfort, KS, to William and Anna Howell. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army and the Naval Reserve. He received his D.D.S. from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and was still actively practicing. He was an instructor at Wichita State University Department of Dental Hygiene. Jerry had many passions including piloting his own plane, golfing, hunting, woodworking, traveling with Joan, and being an avid WSU Shocker fan. He lived life with a smile on his face and surrounded by many friends. Rosary and Mass to be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Wichita, KS on Friday, May 5, 2017. Rosary at 10:30 a.m., Mass following at 11:00 a.m. Lunch and Life Celebration following at Willowbend Country Club House. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy; brothers, Bill and Bob. Survived by his wife, Joan; children, Cathy (Dick) Price, Karen Hrdlicka, Dan (Angela) Howell, Mike (Linda) Howell, Julie Ocker, Steve Howell, Laurie (Lindon) Bontz, all of Wichita; 20 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and his cats, Zeke and Tommie Girl. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with The Lords Diner; Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219. Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
