Gerald Lopez Camacho

Gerald Lopez Camacho, age 94, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center. He was born October 3, 1923 in Wichita and was the son of Julio Hernandez Camacho and Maria Martinez Lopez Camacho. He was married to Mary Esther Hockenbery on October 29, 1947 at Cathedral Catholic Church. They were married 70 years. He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Gerald served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a B29 Mechanic and served in the USAF as clerk administrator during the Korean War. He was a 39-year employee of Boeing Aircraft where he was in the experimental and no tool bench mechanic department retiring at the age of 65. His greatest achievement was being responsible for making the battery compartment and control panel for the Lunar Rover for Nasa. He was a Mason. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and four children, Jerry (Sharon) of Omaha, NE, Cheryl (Don) Cook, of Missouri, Stephen of Wisconsin, Michael (Patricia) of Haysville, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, a brother Emanuel (Beryl) Camacho of Wichita and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Rosary will be at 6:00 pm, Sunday, February 4, 2018; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Monday, February 5, 2018, both at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Haysville.
