Geraldine Tedrick Nelson Jerrie Johnson

Johnson, Geraldine “Jerrie” Tedrick Nelson, 86, retired reporter for Petroleum Information, much beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Born in Hutchinson, KS, March 28, 1928, Jerrie was raised in Wichita, attended East High School and graduated from the University of Wichita with a degree in Psychology. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert “Bob” Milleson Johnson; parents, Alice Mabel and Arnold “Bud” Nelson; brother, Delmer A. Nelson; sister, Joan Caldwell. Survived by: son, Timothy Robert Johnson (Brenda); daughter, Lisa Joan Hattrup (Ken); grandsons, Tyler Robert Johnson and Thomas Howard Johnson; niece, Nancy Nelson Hassebroek (Gene); nephew, Mark Nelson (Nellie), both of Iowa. Jerrie had a love of gardening that included planting over 500 annuals in her yard every spring and had been a member of Project Beauty. She also enjoyed drawing and painting landscapes. She and Bob traveled Europe, Canada, and the United States with her brother, Del and his wife, Josephine. The family would like to thank LifeCare Center of Wichita for helping Jerrie during the last six years of her life. A special thank you to Barb Schmitz and her entire staff in the Alzheimers Unit. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 16, 2014, at Downing Lahey East Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Gentiva Hospice, 2622 W.
