Gladys Edith Stavely

Gladys Edith Stavely, 87, Retired USD 259 Speech Pathologist, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm 6:00 pm, Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, March 27, 2017, at Grace Presbyterian Church. Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 pm, at Lyndon Cemetery, Lyndon, KS. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Stavely; parents, Axel and Anna Voetmann; 3 brothers; 3 sisters. Survived by her daughters, Jocelyn (Chad) Poort, Jill (Richard Thacker) Strait of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Sheldon Strait, Kylar Poort, Hunter Poort, Zoey Poort. In addition to working in USD 259, Gladys also worked at the Institute of Logopedics (now Heartspring) and spent time volunteering as a English as a Second Language teacher with the Sisters of St. Joseph. Gladys was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church where she was participated in the "Steamers Sunday School Group."
