Lytle, Glen E., 90, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Committal Service will be at 11:00 A.M., at Resthaven Cemetery; Memorial Service will be at 1:30 P.M., at First United Methodist Church, both Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Glen began his career as an architect before going to work as superintendent of central inspection and later zoning specialist in the planning department for the City of Wichita. Upon his retirement in 1987, he worked 4 years for Larksfield Place retirement complex as a consultant during construction and then director of environmental services. Glen served in K-Co., 413th Reg., of the 104th Infantry Division U.S. Army (Timberwolves) in the European Theater (Germany, Holland, Belgium, and France) during WWII. At the end of the war, 104th veterans formed the National Timberwolf Association, with annual reunions being held for 65 years. In 1977 Glen became active in leading the association (with 4,000 members at its peak) and served as secretary-treasurer (CEO) for over 20 years (1991-2012). Devoting the majority of his time, he gave his best to this labor of love, helping the veterans and family members in many ways. He organized nine tours back to Europe where the division served. Glen was born January 6, 1924. Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry and Martha Lytle; his brothers, Harry, Jr. and Jim; his son, Glen Charles “Chuck.” Glen is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Marcy “Dixie” (Paul) Smith of Grafton, VA, and Joni (Doug) Nygren of Garden Plain, KS; stepdaughter, Janelle Edwards of Kansas City, MO; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church, 330 N. Broadway St., Wichita, KS 67202; and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
