Gloria N. Plopa

February 18, 1927 ~ October 25, 2020
Gloria N. Plopa, age 93, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020, under the wonderful of care of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Gloria was born in Cecil, Pennsylvania, to Victor and Nette Nonclerg. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a sister, and husband of 65 years, Ed. Gloria is survived by her son, Edward M. (Deb); grandson, Brian (Ashlee); great-granddaughter, Haley; niece, Carol Haley; nephew, Stu Kertiss, and cousin, Sam Nonclerg. Ed and Gloria moved to Wichita in 2005 so they could be closer to their son’s family. Gloria was a voracious reader, crossword player and big fan of the game show, Jeopardy. Her son Ed always made it a point to visit her when Jeopardy was on TV to see who could guess the questions first! She also was a big sports fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, but baseball was her favorite sport. She attended most of her husband’s and son’s games that they played throughout western Pennsylvania. She would become very vocal should an “umpire miss the call” when it went against HER team. Once a football referee looked up into the crowd during a game and yelled, “Gloria, I can’t see you, but I can hear you!” She could watch baseball all day. She made sure she subscribed to the Major League Baseball and National Hockey League TV channels. Gloria had a keen sense of humor and was friendly to anyone she met, especially those at the beauty shop where she went every Friday rain or shine. She really didn’t need to go that often as she was always beautiful! A special thanks to her good friend, Betty (Maria), caretaker Lisa, and her friends at the beauty shop where she always had a joke to tell them! In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Gloria’s name to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita KS 67202 or St. Joseph Catholic Church, 318 Rush Ave., Andale KS 67001. A private graveside service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas. Funeral services provided by Downing and Lahey Mortuary West.
Eddie and family, So sorry for the loss of your Mom. As kids in Cecil we always enjoyed sitting on the front porch and sharing ornery stories with her. She was fun to be around, even as a kid. Rest In Peace Gloria. Denise (Beaumont) Schweitzer, Natrona Heights , PA

Gloria was so very special to me & more than just a client, she became a very close friend & confidant. I could talk to her about anything & she gave me her honest opinion No matter how “ BLUNT “ it was . I will miss her more than words can say . ❤️
My deepest sympathies to you Ed and your family. As a young girl I remember the countless weekends visiting your home while our parents played cards. I especially loved Aunt Gloria’s fox fur stole that she always let me wear…God grant you and your family comfort during this difficult time Love Joyce Berger Andy
I loved Gloria she was so funny and kind. My mother and I bowled with her in Canonsburg Jefferson Lanes. I go past her house on Route 50 often and I always thought about her. I still have the Xmas decorations that she made for me 35 years ago. Many Blessings to the family. Denise McKinney (Peachie) Washington Pa.
