Harland Leroy Thompson

Harland Leroy Thompson, 93, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Visitation with the family, 5-7 p.m., Sunday, June 19, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Service, 10 a.m., Monday, June 20, Harvest Community Church. Harland was retired after 35 years with Bovaird Supply Company where he was operations manager. He had been a member of the Elks Lodge in Pratt since 1959 and a member of the YMCA since 1983. He served with the Army Engineers during World War II for 3 years in the European Theatre Operations during 3 major battles and several minor ones. Since 2003, he had been a member of Harvest Community Church. Harland was preceded in death by parents, Everett and Beatrice Thompson; wife, Ruby "Bobbie" Thompson; son, Eric Thompson; grandchildren, Richard Eric Thompson and Robert "Bob" Townley; brothers, Gaylord and Bernie Thompson; nieces, Charlotte and Pam Thompson. Survivors: son, R. Terry Thompson (Michele) of Moore, OK; grandchildren, Tracey Passantino, Leslie Lust, Amber Ragland, Trey Thompson, Tanner Thompson and Shelly McGrane; daughter-in-law, Sue Dobson; 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the YMCA Strong Community Campaign (Silver Sneakers Club), 6940 N. Newell, Wichita, KS 67212.
