Helen Geneva (Johnson) Pitcher

Pitcher, Helen Geneva (Johnson), 89, former long time resident of Benton, KS, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2008. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M, Thursday, August 14, and services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, August 15, both at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Interment will be at 3:00 P.M., at the Benton Cemetery. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hermie Johnson, husband, Virgil W. Pitcher, brother, Harold Johnson, sister, Lois Mahon, nephew, Patrick Mahon and son-in-law, Jimmy Evans. Survivors are: daughters, Judy Evans of Maryland and Janet and husband, John Whittington of Kansas; grandsons, Jai Evans and wife, Moria; children, Benjamin, Ameila and Nicholas all of Washington D.C., Stewart Evans of Massachusetts and Justin Evans of Maryland; nephew, Michael Mahon and wife, Leslie, sons, Kellen and Ryan, all of Georgia; niece, Kathy Mahon and husband, Milan Jamrich and son, Alex, all of Texas; nephew, Johnny Johnson of AZ Helen lived most of her life in Benton. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending church, traveling and loved gardening. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the Douglass Public Library, P.O. Box 190, Douglass, KS, 67039 and Hospice Care of Kansas, 206 E. Central, El Dorado, KS, 67042. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M, Thursday, August 14, at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Interment will be at 3:00 P.M., at the Benton Cemetery.
