She will be missed by her son, Steve (Terri) Stine; grandchildren, Nick O’Nelio, Dommi (Christian) Locke, Shea (Mary Kate) Stine, Taylor (Kirstie Ruff) Stine; great-grandchildren, Ozzy, Geno and Iggy Locke.
Marlene was born in Edna, Kansas on December 1, 1933. After graduating from Edna High School, she married her high school sweetheart Dean on September 21, 1952. While Dean was serving at sea in the Korean Conflict, Marlene resided in San Diego where their first child Marla was born. Marlene, Dean and Marla moved back to Kansas following Dean’s service. Shortly after their return, they welcomed their son Steve into the family. Dean’s work required various moves and Marlene was quick to become active in the local community and church. Her many talents in music, cooking and willingness to do whatever was needed, allowed her to meet many wonderful people in her journey. Marlene was a member of the West Heights United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors. She loved laughing, cooking, eating, doing crosswords, soap operas, attending her grandkids sporting events; and the Kansas Jayhawks. Marlene, lovingly known as Nini was loved and known for her great sense of humor, her loyalty to family and friends, lover of laughter and endless storytelling..
Marlene’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in peace.

Dean and Marlene have been such a great part of my life. We grew up with this amazing family. Through the years I always kept in touch, visited them and attended to their needs. I loved them as if they were my parents. Diane Ottman Taylor
Marlene was such a wonderful person. The reflections and remembrances of Nick and Dommi from Marlene’s Celebration of Life were so touching and spot on. They so completely echo my feelings. Marlene and Dean made all of Marla and Steve’s friends feel welcome and like family. They left a proud, lasting legacy with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marlene and Dean will be missed. They were always a safe and loving place to land.
