Henry Thomas Vestering, Jr., 86, passed away at his home In Cheney, KS on Monday, January 20, 2025. Henry was born in Wichita, KS, on December 13, 1938, to Harry T. and Josephine (Kleewein) Vestering, Sr.
Henry and Carol Sigman were married in Wellington, KS on June 10, 1961. They were married 56 wonderful years prior to her passing in 2016.
Henry attended school in Wichita and completed the 11th grade at West High School.
Henry went right to work at Giles & McCoy Machine Shop and became their foreman. Henry worked for several machine shops over the years. He and his brother, Joe, were owners of J & H Machine. Henry also owned a machine shop in Cheney. He enjoyed working in the machine shops.
Henry was coach for Little League Baseball for many years.
He was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, KS. Henry was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and attained the 4th Degree.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Josephine, and Harry’s second wife, Marie Vestering; beloved wife Carol; brothers, Joe, Jerry and Frank; sister, Mary Ann Steffan; nephews, Bill, David and Mathew; and great grandson, JB Becker.
He is survived by his brother, Tom (Evelyn) Vestering of Garden Plain, KS; sisters, Betty Pitman of Springfield, MO, Joan Mies, of Wichita, KS; daughter, Brenda (John) Beck of Cheney, KS; sons, Don (Brenda) of Wichita, Curtis, Rick, Steven all of Cheney, Mark (Jill) of Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.
Henry’s greatest joy was to have his whole family (and friends) come to the farm and enjoy BBQ. His family and his farm were his life. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family. He and Carol loved to travel, going on cruises and stopping at the casinos. Henry loved playing cards and enjoyed taking his families money when playing poker. He will be deeply missed.
Rosary will be 10:00 am with Funeral Mass at 10:30 am both on Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima - Mount Vernon Catholic Church, 4813 NE 150th Avenue, Cheney, KS. Interment will follow at the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate monetary gifts to help with funeral expenses.

Uncle Henry. .you loved my family without question. . You loved us not because we were Jerry’s kids, but because we were us. I love you so much and I’m sorry I hadn’t made it out to see you. . I kinda had a lot going on in my life but I got the updates so I did keep tabs on you. . Just know that you will forever have a special place in my heart.

Brenda I did not know your father or mother. About that had to be great people because they have a great daughter like you you . You have a big heart and you try to hell everyone. Ours keep those loved ones in your memories they’re never forgotten. I pray for your family to have comfort through this hard time. Amen
Henry my love goes out to u and Carol. It was like having a big brother. You walked with me through alot of stuff when Jerry passed. If it hadn’t been for u and Frank I would of lost it. I miss u already and you have only been gone a few days. I will see u one day soon. Condolences to ur kids and families.
