Herbert Dale Hollinger

Hollinger, Herbert D., 96, retired Public Relations Manager for Boeing Wichita passed away June 13, 2015. Visitation with Family is 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, June 26, 2015 and Funeral Service is 11:00 am, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at both Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Graveside Service is 10:30 am, Friday, July 3, 2015 at Resthaven Cemetery. Preceded in death by parents, Clara and Joseph Hollinger; brother, Joseph; granddaughter, Ann Martz; and son-in-law, Bob Martz. Survivors include wife of 72 years, Ruth; daughter, Sandra Martz; son; Terry Hollinger; daughter-in-law, Donna Hollinger; grandsons, Scott, Jeff, Kyle, and Kevin Hollinger, Todd Martz; great-granddaughter, Paige Hollinger. Shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he joined the military and left for flight training school. He began active duty in the USAF as a pilot in 1942 and served through 1946. He remained in the reserves and retired as a major. His civic service included chairmanship of Wichita Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, President of Jayhawk Optimist Club and Vice President of Wichita Festivals. Memorials have been established with Kansas Aviation Museum, 3350 George Washington Blvd, South, Wichita, KS, 67210 and First Church of the Brethren, 1103 Jefferson, Wichita, KS 67203.
