Howard E. "Ed" Johnson II

Howard E. "Ed" Johnson II, 74, died Friday, February 3, 2023. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 9, 2023. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 10, 2023, both at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.
Ed worked as a Supervisor in the USD 259 School Safety & Security Services Department until his retirement in 2009. He had previously worked as an Ironworker Welder with Ironworker Local #606 in Wichita, Deputy for the Kingman County Sheriff's Office and volunteered in the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Reserves. Ed was an active member of the Kansas American Legion Post #4, Kansas American Legion Riders, Kansas Patriot Guard, Voiture Nationale 40&8, and Marauders Car Club - Mulvane.
Preceded in death by his parents, Howard Edward and Catha Carlene Johnson; grandchildren, Kristopher Carson Bruey and Liam Sean Johnson. Survived by his wife, Rita Ann Johnson; sons, Howard E. (Heather) Johnson III, Eric W. Johnson all of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Austin Johnson-Rollins of Eureka, KS, Derek Bruey of Colorado Springs, CO, Kadyn Davis, Allison Johnson, Connor Johnson, Alexis Johnson all of Wichita, KS, Madelyn Johnson-Welch of Hutchinson, KS, Gunnar Johnson, Tanner Johnson, Howard E. Johnson, IV, Ayden Johnson, Declan Johnson and Regan Johnson all of Wichita, KS; sisters, Chris (Harry) Gilliand of Augusta, KS, Janet Lynn; sisters-in-law, Connie Braun of Abbotsford, WI, Sue Swender of Newton, KS; brother-in-law, Rick (Terry) Swender of Park City, KS; Numerous Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Kansas Honor Flight, P.O. Box 2371, Hutchinson, KS 67504 and Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219.
