Iola Mae (Vaughn) Schaumburg
January 17, 1932 ~ July 16, 2008
Schaumburg, Iola Mae (Vaughn), 76 years of age, departed this life Wednesday, July 16, after a valiant struggle against several physical ailments. Iola was born January 17, 1932 at Maize, Kansas, and graduated from Halstead High School in 1950. She was a nurses aide at Halstead Hospital and served 17 years as a loyal nursing assistant to Dr. Ruth Montgomery Short in Halstead. She served Memorial Hospital in McPherson as Director of Volunteers for 5 years retiring in 1982. She married William Considine and had four children from that union. She was happily married to Ronald Schaumburg for 25 years. Preceded in death by parents, Jesse Earl and Bessie Vaughn, brothers, Ralph, Eugene, Paul, and J.C. Vaughn, sister, Opal Brown, and grandson, Andrew Considine. Iola is survived by her husband, Ronald, brothers, Carl Vaughn of Oklahoma City, OK, Roy Vaughn and wife, Mary Jane, of Bentley, James Vaughn and wife, Lou Ann, of Newton, son, Michael Considine and wife, LouAnn, of Wichita, daughter, Mary Ann Jones of Halstead, son, Philip Considine and wife, Kathy, of Burrton, daughter, Pamela McCurry and husband, Greg, of Sedgwick, son-in-law, Ted Jones of Burrton, stepdaughter, Deborah Schaumburg and friend, Cyndi Reeves, of Anchorage, AK, stepson, Stephen Schaumburg of Dallas, TX, six grandsons, three granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, and many loving friends. She leaves a legacy of unconditional love, compassion for her fellow man, and a deep faith in her Savior. Visitation with the family, 7:00-8:00 P.M., Friday, July 18, Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Services, 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 19, Westlink Christian Church, 2001 N. Maize Rd. in Wichita. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Bentley.
