Isabel V. Gates

Gates, Isabel V, 99. Isabels family is rejoicing in the knowledge that she is at home with her Lord as of April 22, 2013. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Isabel was also a special friend to so many and had a servants heart. She was born in Sharon, KS on September 23, 1913, and was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Gates. They were married for 53 years. She is survived by her sons, Jim (Elise) Gates and Bob (Becky) Gates. She leaves four grandchildren - Stephanie Gates (Jim) Brown, David (Krista) Gates, Eleanor Gates, and Brad Gates, and four great-grandchildren - Jared (Madison) and Emma Brown, and Cooper and Hunter Gates. Isabel faithfully served as a member of Hillside Christian Church and Mt. Olive Christian Church throughout her adult life, and was actively involved in Christian Womens Fellowship at both churches. She was also a member of PEO, Chapter EI, for more than 50 years and enjoyed her years as a secretary in the Psychology department at Wichita State University. There will be a memorial service for her at 3:00 P.M., Friday, April 26, 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 6 pm - 8 pm, both at Downing Lahey East Mortuary.
