Jack Lynn Stroud, a man defined by his mischievous spirit, tireless work ethic, and quiet devotion to faith and service, passed away leaving a legacy of love and laughter on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Born on June 1, 1934, in Pittsburg, Kansas, Jack was the youngest of five siblings. His childhood—spent chasing his brothers into hijinks and being doted on by his sisters—forged the man he would become: one who loved to have fun but lived to take care of those around him.

At 20, Jack answered the call to duty, joining the United States Army to serve in the Korean Conflict, and later continuing his service in the Army National Guard. Upon returning home to Pittsburg, he continued dating the love of his life, Velma, and the two married in 1957, embarking on a remarkable 69-year journey together.

Jack spent over forty years in the vending and wholesale business, but retirement was a word he never quite embraced. Instead, he transitioned into a second act as the assistant facilities manager at Westlink Christian/Pathway Church. He was also the go-to neighborhood handyman for the Locks at Aberdeen HOA, always ready to fix something for a neighbor in need.

Jack’s faith was expressed through quiet service. He was a pillar of Westlink Christian Church, serving as a Deacon, youth group leader, and lead usher. To many, he was the friendly face who ensured the coffee was hot and the donuts were plenty every Sunday morning.

When he wasn’t serving his community, Jack was likely with family on the water. Summers at the cabin or local lakes were his playground. He was a true showman on his roundboard, often spinning and standing on a chair behind the boat to the delight of his family and friends. Even in his final days, that signature mischievous, loving glow never left his eyes.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Velma; his children, Jeannie (spouse Greg), Jeanette (spouse Terry), and Jeff (spouse Leticia); along with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He helped whomever he could, whenever he could, gifting everyone he met with a spirit that was as kind as it was playful.

Service will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Pathway Church.

Services in care of Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.
