A tree for the father who stood tall, strong, gave me a place to rest and recharge. You are loved, always.
One of the finest lyric tenors to ever sing in a church choir or small ensemble. A fantastic accordianist. An accomplished heli-arc welder. An incredible heavy-duty, John Deere construction equipment mechanic. He loved modifying stock cars into things of beauty with his buddies, the Lubbers.
An accomplished black-rifle sharpshooter. A serious hunter of small bird and game. A hard working breadwinner. A power hitting, slo-pitch softball batter, he batted cross-handed, and nearly always parked the pitch over the outfield fence in church league.
He always regretted not being able to qualify for the military, so his stock answer was to anyone who asked him about what branch of service he served in was: “Somebody has to stay home and grow the food.”
He loved Chevy’s, wearing his Buckskins. and Re-enactors Rendevous’ and the requisite sleeping in Tee-Pees in primative camp at those gatherings. Quite an eclectic man.
We love and miss you, Papa.
Generous with both time & labor of his hands. Thank you, in particular, this 24, Feb ’21
Jim had 2 best friends. When he was younger, his BF was Michael John Voegeli, of Peck KS, a neighbor, and after whom son, Michael JON was named, in 1970. When he was older and a family man, Jim’s BF was Rev. Dale Taylor, a hunting buddy. This photo is Jim with Dale at an auspicious celebration and reunion of WFC members and friends, Aug 31, 2012.
