Jane Thompson Spines

Spines, Jane Thompson, 91, homemaker and volunteer, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Viewing will be 9:00 A.M. ~ 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 2 and 9:00 A.M. ~ 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 3, at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Private family services will be held. Jane was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and the University of Kansas Alumni Association. She was a Navy wife and WWII Red Cross volunteer. Jane also volunteered with the Junior League, the Wichita Childrens Home, the Institute of Logopedics and Meals on Wheels. Preceded in death by husband, Jack H. Spines, Jr. and sister, Martha Healy. Survivors: sons, Steve and Pam Spines and Tom and Linda Spines, all of Wichita; daughters, Sally and Tim Maher of Wichita and Kathy Spines and David Stegall of Erie, CO; brothers, Dwight H. and Doris Thompson, Jr. and Willard B. and Barbara Thompson, both of Wichita; grandchildren, Christine Spines, Shannon Wing, Brooks Maher, Trevor McCall, Jesscica Sheaks and Aaron Sheaks; 4 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with Meals on Wheels, 200 S. Walnut, Wichita, 67213. Viewing will be 9:00 A.M. ~ 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 2 and 9:00 A.M. ~ 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 3, at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Private family services will be held.
