ANDOVER: Balmer, Janel Nichole, 16, Rose Hill high school student, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012. Memorial service 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 8 at Countryside Christian Church. Visitation with family, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., Saturday, July 7 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East, 6555 E. Central, Wichita, KS, 67206. Survivors: parents, John and Julie Balmer of Andover, KS; brother, Justin Balmer of Wichita; maternal grandparents, Bob and Jane DeWitt of Bentonville, AR; paternal grandparents, Tom and JeAnne Balmer and paternal great-grandmother, Katharine Jones all of Aledo, IL; aunts and uncles, Jill and Robbie Lewis of Concord, N.C. and Scott and Julie Balmer of Aledo, IL Memorials have been established with Compassion Ministries, c/o Countryside Christian Church, 1919 S. I was deeply saddened by the news of loss of your daughter, Janel. Much too young to be taken from her family and friends. Know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Janel’s high energy, positive attitude and always smiling face will be missed tremendously. I think I had a funny story about that girl every single day when I worked at the school age program. Just full of personality and spunk! It’s been several years since I’ve seen her, but I can still hear her distinctively unforgettable laugh! My thoughts have been and will continue to be with you all as you celebrate her life, one that touched so many all around the country.

Our Hearts are Broken, I will never hear The Voice, the Laugh, and the Giddy Chuckle when John came in the rm where Janel was. I wish i could have seen her play Softball & Basketball. With All Our Love and Thoughts

Janel was so fun to have in class. I could spot her easily in the hallways last spring with her softball bat sticking out of her bag. She was always smiling and was so friendly to everyone. See you in heaven Janel.

We were stunned when we heard the news. Janel was so full of life. As parents, we just can’t imagine. We have no answers, but know that you have our love and our prayers.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. I can see her up in heaven giving everyone ‘two claps’ as they come to join her! We are here for you.
We will always love you and miss you Janel. Nothing at church will be the same, you were always there for everyone when they needed it. Your family is in my prayers!

I was blessed to have Janel in our program at McConnell AFB. She was always so positive, funny, outgoing and loved helping out. She had such a sweet spirit. I look forward to seeing her again when we are all reunited in Heaven. Until then, she will be missed.
